Food&HotelVietnam2015 Opens Today with Strong Participation and Support From Local Industry

Leading industry governments, associations and businesses rally around Food&HotelVietnam to further develop Vietnam’s food and hotel scene

Ho Chi Minh City, 21 April 2015 – Food&HotelVietnam2015 opens today at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Into its eighth edition, this three-day event has established itself as the premier sourcing and networking platform for the food and hospitality industry in Vietnam and surrounding Indochina regions. 

With a total of 470exhibitors from 36 countries and regions, including 14 international group pavilions from Australia, Germany, Korea, Malaysia, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey and USA, Food&HotelVietnam2015 is a melting pot of frontend to backend food and hospitality products from all over the world.

Strong support for Food&HotelVietnam2015 from local governments and industry associations 
Over the years, the Food&HotelVietnam has amassed strong support and endorsements from not only businesses, but also from local government organisations and influential industry associations. This year is no different, as the event once again is strongly backed by Ministry of Industry and Trade, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vietnam, Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism, Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Vietnam Hotel Association, Ho Chi Minh City Hotel Association, and more.

For this first time, the Vietnam Hotel Association (VHA) is holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM), titled “Enhancing the Competitiveness of the Tourist Accommodation Establishment System”, at Food&HotelVietnam2015. More than 200 delegates from major hotels from provinces all over Vietnam will attend to discuss and debate current opportunities and challenges, and formulate plans to develop and strength the capacity and competitiveness of the country’s hotel sector.

Local exhibitors a highlight at Food&HotelVietnam2015
This year, Food&HotelVietnam has assembled a congregation of 107 local companies comprising of some of the local industry’s movers and shakers. They include BT International, Dan & Dan, New Viet Dairy, SAF-Viet, SIMPLEX, Sunshine Equipment and Viet Hotel Solutions among others showcasing their highlighted products and equipment to fulfill the strong demand of local market in the emerging stage. First-time local exhibitors are BK VINA (Bumkoo Industrial Co., Ltd), Saigon Binh Tay Beer (SABECO), Ocean Pharm, Tan Nhat Huong, Sao Viet and Clean S&E among others.

Exciting Competitions at Food&HotelVietnam2015
Adding to the excitement on the show floor, Food&HotelVietnam is also hosting the Vietnam Culinary Challenge, Vietnam Barista Competition and Vietnam Latte Art Competition.

Organised by the Saigon Professional Chefs Guild, the Vietnam Culinary Challenge is an important arena for chefs to demonstrate their culinary skills and techniques. Besides individual sections, this year edition is also open to teams with the focus on food from Indochina. 

“Vietnam Culinary Challenge has been integrated in Food&HotelVietnam from the 1st edition until now. The competition has grown together with the exhibition. This year, for the first time, Vietnam Culinary Challenge opens for teams and competitors from the ASEAN region. We have received many enquiries from local and regional organisations. Featuring 16 high-profile judges in the region, 187 individual competitors with eight teams from the region, we strongly believe this year’s edition will reap the most fruitful results ever” says Mr. Norbert Ehbar from Saigon Professional Chefs Guild, the organiser of Vietnam Culinary Challenge.

The Vietnam Barista Competition and Vietnam Latte Art Competition are back for its fourth editions at Food&HotelVietnam2015, and continueto be the premiere platform for talents to showcase their expertise andcreativity and fight for the title of Vietnam’s top barista.

Seminar sand Workshops at Food&HotelVietnam2015
In addition to a line-up of exhibitors, and the latest products and technologies, Food&HotelVietnam2015 also has a series of seminars held over three days to discuss pertinent issues, trends and developments surrounding food safety and franchising. The “Food Safety in Commercial Kitchens: An ISO 22000:2005 Approach for Practisioners” Seminar is organised by the Lean Six Sigma Network; while the “Itinerary For Franchise Seminar Cum Franchisors Presentations and One-to-One Meeting Workshop” is organised by ASIAWIDE Franchise.

Complementing the barista competitions are three barista training workshops. Titled “5 Simple Secrets to a Better Coffee”, “Advanced Espresso crafting Techniques”, “Hand Brew Workshop”, the workshops are led by three reputable trainers in the region: Mr. Darren Chang - Coffee consultant and trainer, Mr. Danny Pang - SCAE Authorised Trainer since 2009; and Mr. Tony Tan - Specialty Coffee roaster and Barista Trainer since 2009.
