Ho Chi Minh City, 23 December 2016 - Food&HotelVietnam2017 – Vietnam’s leading international food and hospitality trade show, is set to return from 25 to 27 April 2017 at Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC), Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Food&HotelVietnam2017 promises attendees a truly international showcase with the largest variety of food, beverage, wines and spirits, as well as other services and technologies. Back for its 9th edition, this event is once again poised to offer significant networking opportunities for businesses to stay ahead of the curve and keep abreast of the latest industry culinary trends and product innovations.
Organised by Singapore Exhibition Services and in partnership with VCCI Exhibition Service, the event will welcome more than 520 exhibitors from 36 countries and regions (of which 75 per cent are from overseas) - including 16 international group pavilions of Australia, Belgium (3), Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Korea, Malaysia, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey and USA. A large number of key industry players have also confirmed their participation, including Charles Wembley (S.E.A), New Viet Diary, Bao Thach International, Boncafe, Lutosa, Ocean Glass Public, Nestle, Sunshine Trading, Tong Gardens, US Dairy Export Council, Winterhalter Gastronom amongst others.
Covering 10,000 square meters of hall space, the exhibition will present exhibit categories such as Food, Drinks & Beverages; Dairy Products; Meat & Poultry, Bakery & Confectionery Equipment; Bar, Coffee & Beverage Equipment; Foodservice & Catering Equipment; Cleaning and Washing Equipment; and many more.
Resource hub for industry players
As it has for the last eight editions, Food&HotelVietnam2017 is deeply entrenched as a dynamic industry hub, helping food and hospitality sectors in Vietnam and beyond to evolve and advance.
The 9th edition is anticipated to attract well over 13,000 trade attendees not only from key tourist establishments in Vietnam, but also from other neighboring countries, as well as from countries/regions afar. Visitors will be greeted by a large international food, drink and equipment product showcase, educational and interactive seminars hosted by various industry organizations. Alongside the exhibition and seminars, visitors will also get to see the action packed Vietnam National Culinary Challenge and the Vietnam Barista Competition.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism will contribute to this edition by hosting an educational and interactive seminar on current local food insights and trends, as well as relevant opportunities and challenges of doing businesses in Vietnam’s food and hospitality sector. The seminar is expected to welcome the participation of many senior government officials, business experts, representatives of both domestic and international organizations, and renowned food industry specialists. The program aims to introduce Vietnam’s excellent culinary heritage to international guests and media gracing Food&HotelAsia2017, further raising the bar for Vietnamese cuisine, and complement the steady pace of tourism growth in Vietnam.
The previous edition of Food&HotelVietnam in 2015 attracted 470 exhibitors from 36 countries and regions, and 13,373 trade attendees. Amongst them were more than 250 buyer delegations from major local and regional establishments such as Big C, Cambodia Air Caterers, Cambodia Sunway Hotel, Circle K, Intercontinental Asiana Saigon, KFC, Lotte Mart, Metro Cash & Carry, New World Hotel, Nikko Hotel Saigon, NYDC, Paradise Hotels and Resorts, Passio Coffee, Saigon COOP, Shop&Go, The Cliff Resort and Vietnam Air Caterers.
Where culinary and barista talents emerge through rigorous competitions
Going beyond the confines of conventional trade show presentations, Vietnam’s largest international food and hospitality trade event is also a rigorous competition arena where hundreds of chefs and baristas are able to compete in various competitions chaired by an international panel of judges.
Vietnam Barista Competition 2017
The Vietnam Barista Competition (VBC) is a prestigious coffee competition held alongside the exhibition. Since its inception in 2006, the VBC has significantly grown in stature and prestige to become an ideal platform for baristas from across the country to learn from peers and enhance their masterly skills, talent and creativity, competing for the honour of being the finest barista in the nation.
Vietnam Culinary Challenge 2017
Organised by the Saigon Professional Chefs Guild, Vietnam Culinary Challenge (VNCC) has established itself as the Vietnam’s most prestigious culinary competition dedicated to promoting local culinary excellence. The 7th edition of VNCC is THE arena for professional chefs in Vietnam and beyond to pit their skills against one another in a three-day series of ‘cook-offs’ for the coveted title of Grand Champion.
From 2015, VNCC has added a team competition event which has been very successful. Many teams have already indicated a desire to return for the competition which bodes well for the 2017 challenge. Following the success of previous editions, many sponsors has reinforced their support of the 2017 event and have continued their sponsorship. Some of the current sponsors are as follows: Fonterra, US Poultry, US Meat, US Potato, Ly’s Horeca by Minh Long, Equatorial Hotel, Victorinox, Nestle, Au Lac Vegetarian food, Hela and Charles Wembley. A promising future lies ahead for Vietnam’s industry
Vietnam’s retail industry is in the midst of 8 – 10 per cent annual growth in recent years, making it highly attractive to investors, due mainly to young population and workforce, rising disposable incomes, rapid urbanization and improved living standards. The country is currently listed in the top five in Asia and ranked 11th globally in terms of retail growth.
As Vietnam has also concluded a variety of free trade agreements, the country is expected to experience an influx of foreign retailers such as Japan’s AEON, South Korea’s CJ Group and Thailand’s Central Group, which have shown great interest in developing modern retailing in Vietnam.
The tourism industry in Vietnam is, on the other hand, in robust health where the number of foreign tourist inflow keeps increasing over the years, which revives an urgent demand of customer good as well as the hospitality equipment and gastronomy.
Hence, with the sustained industry growth and opportunities abound, the opportune staging of Food&HotelVietnam2017 timely returns for its 9th edition, living up to its claim of being the most inspiring and specialized exhibition in Vietnam and the region.
