On April 23, 2022, in Nha Trang City, the signing ceremony of strategic cooperation “Restoring Phan Rang – Da Lat railway” took place between Crystal Bay Tourism Group, Corex and TRICC.

The event marks an important milestone for the beginning of the journey to restore Vietnam’s more than 100-year-old heritage railway. This historic work in the world railway industry is 84km long, connecting the “sea and flowers”, is the ancient cog railway in Asia and also the longest cog railway. The highest slope in the world.

Phan Rang – Da Lat railway is one of only two mountain railways in the world that runs on cogwheels. However, after 1975, this railway line was stopped and dismantled, bringing a lot of regret to tourists and indigenous people.

Since 2020, Corex has accompanied Crystal Bay Tourism Group to launch research on the restoration project of the Phan Rang – Da Lat heritage railway. The restoration, development and exploitation of this national heritage work not only has the meaning of preserving the historical heritage, but also brings a lot of potentials to develop cultural tourism, raise the national tourism level, from there. contribute to the comprehensive development of economy – culture – society for the localities where the route passes.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Nguyen Hoai Thu – Chairman of Corex Board of Directors shared: “Reviving the cog railway Phan Rang – Da Lat helps elevate tourism, attracts tourists to experience, and contributes to the development of the city. socio-economic development of localities with routes passing, especially Lam Dong with the strength of mountain landscape tourism and Ninh Thuan with sea tourism.

The railway route Phan Rang – Da Lat is oriented to be restored and repaired, in order to provide train travel services for tourists to visit and experience culture – history. This Indochina heritage train will be the world’s first culturally interactive train, taking visitors back in time and reliving the cultural era of more than 100 years ago. Accordingly, the 84km long route will be divided into 17 stations with 6 main stations; The station area of ​​each station will be designed into experience destinations with unique stories of indigenous culture and high-class tourism products.

Converging 3 factors that make the attraction of famous railway routes in the world is built on risky terrain, extremely difficult technical conditions and impressive scenery, Phan Rang – Da Lat railway line. is considered a big and long-term challenge for Crystal Bay Tourism Group, Corex as well as experts and contractors involved in the project.

Evaluating the potential of the project, Mr. Nguyen Duc Chi – Chairman of Crystal Bay Tourism Group said: “The heritage railway line Phan Rang – Da Lat will be an extremely important piece to promote the development. of “Khanh Hoa – Lam Dong – Ninh Thuan tourism triangle” in the future. We expect that by 2030, this “tourism triangle” will welcome more than 50 million tourists, in which, the railway line alone. According to the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1769/QD-TTg issued in October 2021, the Phan Rang – Da Lat railway line is particularly recognized in the railway network development strategy for the period 2021 – 2030, with a range look to 2050.
