Vinamilk Green Farm ecological farm is a model for Vinamilk to actualize its sustainable development strategy in the dairy industry.

With the aim of raising awareness of the message and actions towards Dairy Net Zero, this year’s World Milk Day (June 1st) also focuses on the importance of sustainable development, accelerating actions to protect the environment, climate and reduce the impact of the dairy industry on Earth.

Vinamilk has chosen sustainable development as one of the four choices in its development strategy for the next five years with the goal of protecting the living environment and bringing benefits to consumers. Accordingly, Vinamilk determined to promote E–S–G (Environment – Society – Governance) practice, aiming to balance production and business growth with environmental and social responsibility.

During the upcoming 15th Global Dairy Conference in France, Vinamilk will share about the sustainable development of Vietnam’s dairy industry with the topic “Green Farm”, an ecological farm model introduced by Vinamilk in 2021.

At Vinamilk Green Farm, soil resources are managed and exploited optimally to retain the maximum value of natural organic nutrients. Enterprises apply agricultural production practices, apply science and technology to cultivate land, rotate crops, optimize the use of organic fertilizers from cows to replace chemicals and inorganic fertilizers. In particular, in recent years Vinamilk has also applied advanced farming techniques according to Japanese technology to help the farm’s soil always be fertile and rich in nutrients.

The water source at Vinamilk Green Farm ecological farm provides nutrients for the farm ecosystem and contributes to the creation of regulating lakes to keep the air cool and fresh. This resource is always strictly exploited, ensuring sustainable development thanks to a modern water treatment system, along with an independent wastewater and rainwater collection system to protect water sources.

In addition, the amount of water used at the farm is always controlled and monitored daily to save and avoid waste. Groundwater sources are also controlled and evaluated for annual use capacity to plan for efficient exploitation and use, without causing depletion.

Besides, using renewable energy is also focused to the maximum. Vinamilk Green Farm uses solar power and Biogas system, treats livestock waste into methane gas, can heat water up to 90 degrees to clean farm equipment. These things help Vinamilk Green Farm reduce electricity consumption, reduce carbon emissions causing greenhouse effect and polluting impacts on the environment.

Vinamilk also pays special attention to animal welfare when it is absolutely committed not to use growth hormones during the breeding process. Natural, nutrient-rich feed is selected and meets Global G.A.P standards.
