Katinat Saigon Kafe silently “fights” with The Coffee House – Highlands Coffee – Phuc Long in Ho Chi Minh City

18/07/2022

Katinat Saigon Kafe silently “fights” with The Coffee House – Highlands Coffee – Phuc Long in Ho Chi Minh City: Owning a series of beautiful premises at major intersections, “same house” with many famous F&B brands.

By the end of 2021, Katinat Saigon Kafe only had 10 small coffee shops scattered in the center of District 1 and District 3, but now they have up to 18 large stores located in different prime locations in HCMC – like at roundabouts and radiating to many districts. The brands goal is to expand the chain to 50 stores in the future.

Before 2021, Katinat Saigon Kafe was not a famous name in Ho Chi Minh City, because this chain only has about 9 small branches located in District 1 and District 3, one shop is located in Bien Hoa. Moreover, they did not conduct any aggressive marketing campaigns in the media.

The first branches of Katinat

But now, the name Katinat Saigon Kafe is gradually being remembered by many people, by ‘taking advantage’ of the opportunity of the F&B market to “restructure” after Covid-19, many prime premises in the large roundabouts in the city center were returned, they came to rent and invest in large and beautiful shops.

Different from the narrow spaces of the original 10 stores, the later new stores have both large and high-rise spaces, commonly from 2 to 3 floors. Not only that, this brand also changed the brand identity, concept and color of the store. It can be said that, without the name Katinat in front, many people would know that the new stores are also in the Katinat Saigon Kafe chain.

Especially, the 2 newest stores have just opened in Cong Hoa (Right at the intersection of Cong Hoa-Thang Long in Tan Binh District) and Cho Lon (At the intersection of Cho Lon-Binh Phu streets in District 5), made by Soulroom – an experienced interior design and construction unit in Vietnam.

Regarding the cooperation relationship between Katinat and Soulroom, Ms. Dung Le – Project Manager at Soulroom confided: “We feel in tune with Katinat’s projects in terms of market trend judgment.

All the premises Katinat chose are inherently prime locations, so Soulroom’s job is to judge the situation, see the beauty of the project and make it a feature of the brand. In addition, we use a number of available materials and create our own DNA for each brand.”

Established in 2016, until now, Katinat has 18 stores scattered throughout Ho Chi Minh City and a few neighboring provinces. The goal of this chain is to increase to 50 stores in the future.

Katinat seems to have decided to ‘play hard’ from the beginning of 2021, but due to the pandemic, things did not go as expected. So, it can be seen that since the social distancing order was removed and Vietnam entered the “new normal” period, Katinat has continuously opened stores to keep up with the set KPIs.

Accordingly, compared with The Coffee House – Highlands Coffee – Phuc Long, the number of Katinat’s current or future stores in Ho Chi Minh City may not meet. But with occupying prime locations plus the capacity of large stores and exploiting the same customer segment, those big guys can not help but be alert.
