Both the Ministry of Transport, State Capital Management Committee at enterprises, and the Vietnam Airports Corporation have agreed to prioritize the implementation of the project through the public-private partnership method.

Overall investment and synchronization of all items, including runway, terminal, and taxiway:

The Deputy Prime Minister has instructed the Ministry of Transport to develop an overall investment plan and synchronize all items, including the runway, terminal, and taxiway, as well as evaluate the efficiency of investment.

The People’s Committee of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province should proactively call for and attract investors, conduct investment research, assess economic and technical efficiency, and mobilize capital resources. They should also develop a socialization project and invest according to the public-private partnership method to exploit Con Dao Airport.

After completing the necessary procedures, the People’s Committee of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province will agree with the Ministry of Transport’s proposal and officially be responsible for implementing the project in accordance with legal regulations.

The Ministry of Transport is responsible for urging, guiding, monitoring, and supervising the implementation process to ensure compliance with requirements, regulations, and technical standards.

Con Dao is one of the oldest airports in Vietnam built by the French during the execution of the colonial regime against Vietnamese communist fighters in the 19th century. The airport has a short runway, surrounded by the sea and rugged mountains.

Con Dao Airport is currently a level 3C airport and a level 2 military airport, meaning it can receive ATR72, F70, and equivalent aircraft with a capacity of 300,000 passengers per year.

Currently, Con Dao Airport is planned as a domestic airport for civilian and military use, with a capacity of 2 million passengers and 4,400 tons of cargo per year. The airport has a total of 8 parking positions.
