Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism industry earns over VND 3,000 billion during the April 30th and May 1st holiday
08/05/2023During the Hung King’s Commemoration, and the April 30th and May 1st holidays this year, Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism industry earned over VND 3,000 billion in revenue.
According to statistics from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, during the Hung Kings’ Commemoration, and the April 30th and May 1st holidays this year, the tourism industry’s revenue was estimated to reach over VND 3,000 billion, an increase of 94.4% compared to the same period last year (2022 was VND 1,610 billion).
Among them, approximately 950,000 visitors came to tourist attractions and entertainment venues; about 320,000 domestic tourists visited Ho Chi Minh City.
Around 180,000 visitors stayed at accommodation facilities, with room occupancy rates reaching around 70% to 75%. International visitors to Ho Chi Minh City during the holiday were estimated at around 48,000, an increase of 263.6% compared to the same period last year (2022 was 13,200 visitors).
The tourism industry in Ho Chi Minh City has earned over 3,000 billion VND during the holiday season. In the first four months of 2023, the city attracted more than 1.3 million international tourists (an increase of 1,106.7% compared to the same period in 2022) and 10.5 million domestic tourists (an increase of 54.7% compared to the same period in 2022), generating a total revenue of over 51,000 billion VND.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Department, in addition to 60 domestic tourism products, the highlight of this year’s holiday series was the program to visit the national-level artistic architectural relic of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and People’s Council headquarters, which was organized for the first time and considered an important special attraction.
After two days of operation, the tour program received more than 1,500 visitors including local residents, domestic tourists from many provinces and cities far away such as Hanoi, Ha Giang…as well as international tourists and artists.
According to the General Statistics Office, in April, the number of international visitors to Vietnam was estimated at over 984,000, up 9.9% compared to the previous month and 9.7 times higher than the same period last year.
In the first four months of the year, the number of international visitors to Vietnam reached over 3.6 million, an increase of 19.2 times compared to the same period last year. This figure accounts for 46% of the goal of welcoming 8 million international visitors to Vietnam for the entire year of 2023.
