Opportunities for Vietnam’s food and beverage industry in the Chinese market
21/05/2023On the morning of May 18th, the opening ceremony of the Vietnam booth at the SIAL Shanghai 2023 International Food Industry Expo was held at the Shanghai International Exhibition Center.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen The Tung, Vietnamese Consul General in Shanghai; Mr. Adam Koulaksezian, Director of Trade and Industry Department of France in Vietnam; representatives from the organizing committee of the exhibition, Mr. Nicolas Trentesaux, CEO of SIAL systems worldwide of COMEXPOSIUM Group, French trade advisor, and Vietnamese business representatives.
Returning after nearly 3 years of interruption due to the Covid-19 pandemic, SIAL Shanghai 2023 has become one of the leading events for organizations and businesses operating in the food industry worldwide and in China.
With an exhibition area of up to 180,000m², SIAL Shanghai 2023 attracts about 4,500 international companies to display their products in 12 specialized exhibition areas for comprehensive imported food products, health foods, premium beverages, fast food, fresh meat, frozen food, supply chains for agricultural products, packaging and processing, and national booths. The exhibition is expected to have about 150,000 visitors seeking opportunities for cooperation.

At SIAL Shanghai 2023, the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam, as the official representative of SIAL Network in Vietnam, chaired the organization of the Vietnam Pavilion with the participation of 23 Vietnamese enterprises in fields such as food, fruits and vegetables, agricultural processing, confectionery, and beverages. This aims to support and promote Vietnam’s food and beverage products in the world market.
Located in a central position within the national pavilion area, the Vietnam Pavilion was quickly recognized and the products of Vietnamese businesses easily caught the attention of not only visitors from China but also many countries around the world.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Pavilion, Consul General Nguyen The Tung emphasized the enormous potential for economic and trade cooperation, especially in the agricultural and food sectors, between Vietnam and China.
Consul General Nguyen The Tung hopes that Vietnamese enterprises will further promote their promotion and advertising activities in China, conduct thorough market research to understand the needs and preferences of Chinese consumers, continuously improve product quality to compete with similar products from China and the world, and take advantage of Vietnam’s strengths and relevant bilateral and multilateral trade agreements to enter this large and promising market.
The Consulate General of Vietnam in Shanghai is ready to act as a bridge to further expand exchanges and cooperation between the two countries’ localities, including promoting and expanding the market for goods, as well as supporting Vietnamese enterprises in seeking cooperation opportunities in the East China region.
