Ho Chi Minh City, 25 April 2017 – Food&HotelVietnam2017 gets off to a rousing start today at Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC), Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Taking place from 25 to 27 April 2017 and encompassing more than 11,000 square meters of exhibition space, the trade event is timely, relevant and complements the steady growth of the food and hospitality industries in Vietnam and beyond. This event presents an opportune networking platform for the industry to converge, source, develop business and broaden network.
The 9th edition features a total of 614 exhibitors from 38 countries and regions, making it the largest and most comprehensive showcase of its kind in Indochina. With overseas exhibitor participation at 76 per cent, together with the remarkable presence of 20 international group pavilions from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Korea, Malaysia, Poland, Philippines, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey, Ukraine and USA endorses the show’s stature and contribution to the local and regional hospitality industry.
An ever-expanding range of products and services will be on display, ranging from the finest and most unique food ingredients and products, to service equipment, and, hospitality hardware and software solutions. Trade visitors will be delighted with the vast array of culinary products, such as Australian fresh beef and beef products; Belgian chocolate, confectionery; flavorful Germany bread, sausage, wine and spirits; or Spanish premium olio products, seafood, ham and sparkling wines, amongst others.
This event also highlights Korean food specialties with an impressive showcase of kimchi, ginseng, seaweed, as well as the well-knowned Korean spirits such as rice wine, soju, fruit and herb wines. It is reported that Korea is among the countries with the highest number of exhibiting companies – featuring a total of 51 exhibitors led by the Korean Agricultural Technology Center.
Adding to the showground’s sparkle and glamour is an international variety of product lines introduced by over 40 vendors and suppliers from the United State of America. U.S. Offices of Agricultural Affairs at the U.S. Embassy, Hanoi and the U.S. Consulate General, Ho Chi Minh City – the organizer of the USA Pavilion shared: “Vietnam, over the years, has become an important market for U.S. food and agricultural products thanks to the growing food retail sector and increasing demand for high quality food products. Vietnam Hotel Association continues its relationship and presence at Food&HotelVietnam with a seminar entited “Vietnam Hotel Business and Investment Conference”. With an estimated attendance of over 300 senior delegates, the conference provides the stage for domestic and international hotel strategists to convene and map the future of the Vietnam’s hospitality industry.
Vietnam Culinary Challenge 2017
Organized by the Saigon Professional Chefs Guild as part of Food&HotelVietnam2017, the Vietnam Culinary Challenge (VNCC) is dedicated to helping local culinarians hone their craft, develop their cooking skills and broaden their culinary horizons. Competing at VNCC provides young chefs with the added opportunity of being mentored by a panel of culinary instructors and given access to a national network of professional chefs. Under the theme of “Spices of Indochina”, contestants will demonstrate their knowledge and skills through a variety of different classes, from Vietnamese and Chinese cuisines, vegetarian dishes, to dessert making and fruit and vegetable carving.

Vietnam Barista and Vietnam Latte Art Competition 2017
The Vietnam Barista and Latter Art Competition is a highly recommended and prestigious platform for baristas to enhance their beverage making skills and knowledge through an intense, action-packed series of challenges. Each contestant will have up to 15 minutes to produce three sets of espressos, milk based drinks, and signature beverages for a panel of certified judges, all competing for the covet title of being the finest barista.
The champion will be headed to Singapore for a once in a lifetime journey, representing Vietnam to pit their skills against others at the regional contest Barista Super Duo Challenge, held concurrently with Food&HotelAsia2018 in Singapore from 24 – 27 April 2018.
A platform for business networking and knowledge sharing
The conference program at Food&HotelVietnam2017 is packed full of inspirational and innovative education sessions and workshops, offering trade delegates an opportunity to learn from the best speakers and professionals across the region. Apart from the above-mentioned symposiums by Vietnam Hotel Association and Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, the educational sessions also cover a variety of pertinent topics ranging from wine matching techniques, butchery skills, to food processing and food safety matters.
New Viet Dairy – the largest single exhibitor at Food&HotelVietnam2017 will add to the show an indulgent, educational workshop entitled: “Wine Families – Wine and Food Pairing”. Under the dedicated guidance of the French wine expert Rene Marre, the deep-dive workshop will equip you with a number of carefully prepared wine tastings, hone your tasting skills and help you match food and wine like a real sommelier.
The seminar “Food Safety in Commercial Kitchens: An ISO 22000:2005 Approach for Practitioners” hosted by Lean Six Sigma Network will be focusing on the increasing challenges and complexity posed by diverse aspects of food safety, as well as addressing some of the latest research and critical issues currently facing the food industry. Keynote speaker at the seminar is Dr. Nguyen Xuan Mai – Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Hygiene and Public Health.
The exhibition, likewise, features other industry-specific workshops which are “Working with Australian Red Meat – Butchery Workshop for Chefs, Food Retailers and Food Service Industry” hosted by The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) and “The 2nd Malaysia Palm Oil International Chefs Conference 2016 in Vietnam: Revolution in Professional Kitchen” by Malaysian Palm Oil Council.
